IMAGE COPYRIGHT Light Detectives: Fingerprinting from Deep Sea to Mars
The Biophotonics lab invites you to step into the role of a Light Detective. At this hands-on activity, you'll use light and lasers to uncover hidden clues and crack the molecular fingerprints that reveal how our world really works.
Whether you're new to science, thinking about your future studies, or simply curious about how the world works, get involved in our interactive activities and understand how lasers can be used to make the invisible visible and tackle some of the biggest global issues. Experiment with rainbow resonators to see how light interacts with molecules, and investigate our interactive coral reef to spot microplastic pollution. Our Mars rover exhibit shows how the same light-based tools could one day help answer one of the biggest questions of all: is there life beyond Earth?
Discover how light connects science, engineering, medicine, environmental protection, and space exploration, and how this research can change lives and protect the planet. With friendly and interdisciplinary scientists on hand, come ask questions, explore at your own pace, and see how curiosity, creativity, and teamwork turn light into world-changing discoveries.
