Image taken by the NBIC Team. The Power of Microbial Cities
Curious to find out more about the mould on your food? Discover the fascinating world of microbe communities and explore how they impact the environment around us! You will be able to help scientists from the National Biofilms Innovation Centre (NBIC) build a giant LEGO microbial community, called a biofilm, and discover what happens when numerous microbes start living together. You will then help scientists from the Environmental Biotechnology Innovation Centre (EBIC) explore how these biofilms affect the environment around us, and how we can use them to our advantage. You will help modify Jenga bacterial DNA to make bacteria better at degrading pollutants and will use their biofilms to collect the pollutants from our Pac-Man-based maze game. In addition to building your own LEGO microbes, you will be able to play some fun games, admire living species of biofilms, discover biofilm inspired art, meet our teams, and more!
