The Science and Engineering of Ships
Ever wondered how do we design and test boats, ships, offshore structures, and ocean renewable energy? How do sail boats work? How do robots explore the oceans? How is maritime reducing its emissions? How can we capture ocean renewable energy?
If the answer is yes, then find out more from the Maritime Engineering group at the University of Southampton.
We have demonstrations in our 138 metres long towing tank as well as hands-on activities and interactive simulations explaining the engineering behind the design of boats, ships, offshore structures and ocean renewable energy!
*Accessibility: while the Towing Tank Laboratory is wheelchair accessible, please note that the hands-on activities taking place on Level 1 can be access only through the east entrance to the building. Please ask a student ambassador for directions.
