Phages are a diverse group of viruses which infect and kill bacteria. They are the greatest biological entity on Earth which can be found in any environment where bacteria reside, such as the world's oceans and soils, and even our own gut!
Unlike other viruses, phages do not infect or cause damage to human cells. There is hope that we could use these microscopic warriors to treat bacterial infections that are resistant to antibiotics.
Through interactive activities you will be able to learn how phages infect and kill bacteria and understand how these viruses could help us to combat the antibiotic resistance crisis. You can also find out about our research on phages and, if you like, how you can get involved!
The scientists from the Phage Collection Project can't wait to meet you, and introduce you to the amazing world of phages!
